Irene Marasco

She was born in Milan on 20 July 1977. In 1997 she received her diploma from the Ginnasio Beccaria humanities high school. In June 2001 she received a diploma in Jewelry Design from the European Institute of Design, presenting a thesis project in collaboration with the UnoAErre company in Arezzo on the subject of “new luxury”.

In 2002 she met Davide De Paoli and embarked on an intensive jewellery course at his PRIMATERIA workshop.

Through Davide she later met Fiorenza Roveda and Piervito Antoniazzi from the Città e Salute cooperative who asked her to come and work with the nascent UrOburo Studio, where she was soon employed full time. She became the studio’s first tutor, demonstrating a remarkable ability to listen to and look after the needs of the disadvantaged students who were sent from mental health centres for vocational training.

At the same time she improved her technical skills at the studio of Roberto Gioja, a master chiseller and embosser.

She maintained her working relationship with master jeweller De Paoli, becoming the designer of the metal models he created in cardboard, keeping their creative spirit and style intact.

Their relationship is reflected in Irene Marasco’s geometric and abstract style, where she has developed her own research into forms that are far removed from naturalistic shapes, working with the basic sign and on the relationship between full and empty spaces.

She has presented various collections of her unique geometrical silver earrings.

In December 2013, paintings made in collaboration with an illustrator that incorporate her jewellery will become part of a very innovative prêt-à-porter project.

The periodic UrOburo exhibitions are the perfect setting for her creativity, with her enamel jewellery collections reflecting the pleasure she derives from play and colour.

After the collections created at the beginning by master jeweller De Paoli, her own collections help to distinguish UrOburo’s style, guaranteeing that the quality remains high and unmistakable over time.
